JUNIOR/YOUTH SAILING PROGRAMS

Torquay Sailing Club junior and youth sailing programs take a new innovative program focused on adventure. 

  • Fun based activities
  • Focus on a modern new dinghy, the O'Pen Skiff, and also the super stable and safe Hobie Wave Catamarans
  • There are a limited number of Skiffs available for charter, or alternatively purchase your own for ~$1500-$3000
  • Children will need their own wetsuit, life jacket and helmet (bike helmets are perfect!)

The sailing programs are all about fun and participation and are an important sporting opportunity for juniors and youth in the Surfcoast region.

Junior and Youth Sailing are foster the following skills:

  • Technical sailing skills
  • Team work and active participation
  • Tactics and planning
  • Understanding wind and weather
  • Boat setup and preparation
  • Having fun and going on adventures

Sailing School is run on Sunday mornings throughout School term Four and One.

Note: The Sailing School participants are required to be either part of a Torquay Sailing Club Family membership or Junior membership.

• Green Adventure Fleet (kids 8-15)
• OpenSkiff Squad (kids 8-15)
• Catamaran Sailing (15+ years)

ADULT LEARN-TO-SAIL

Intensive 2 hour lessons on a Hobie Wave are a great way to fast-track your pathy to getting out on the water, enjoying the thrills of catamaran sailing at Torquay!

These can be arranged privately through the club (email torquaysailingclub@gmail.com) and can cater for beginners through to experienced sailors wanting to improve their race skills.
